Irkutsk

Irkutsk is one of the largest cities in Siberia. It is a fortified military post, an archbishopric of the Russian Orthodox Church, and the administrative center of Irkutsk Oblast. Irkutsk proper lies at the Angara, a tributary of the Yenisei, 45 mi (72 km) below its outflow from Lake Baikal. The Irkut River, from which the town takes its name, is a small river which joins the Angara directly opposite the town.

Listvyanka

Baikal Ecology Museum exhibits the lake’s unique displays of flora and fauna: stuffed animals, a rich collection of minerals, different kinds of fish and other organisms inhabiting the lake.
Taltsy - Open-Air Museum of Wooden Architecture.

Circum-Baikal Railway

It is a unique memorial of engineering art, constructed in the beginning of the 20th century as a part of the Transsiberian Railway. The way 84 km long, made in the lake's rocky west shore, contains 39 tunnels, 14 galleries, more than 50 reinforced concrete and stone arch bridges. This line is considered to be the most volumetric, complicated and expensive to build among all the railways of Russia
